K Ryan Henisey and Eugene Huffman invite queer artists to submit work on the theme My Youth. Fine art in all media is sought exploring the artist’s experience as a queer individual and what their youth—current or past—means to them. Accepted works will show at TAG Gallery from November 19 - December 14 along with solo shows from TAG member artists.
K. Ryan Henisey is a current member and TAG Gallery president. His recent solo exhibitions include Pantheon at LAAA’s Gallery 825 (2019) and Mythologies (2018). His next show will appear alongside the works in My Youth.
Eugene Huffman was named as one of HIV Plus Magazine's "Most Amazing HIV-Positive People of 2016." A Graphic Designer, Eugene most recently curated Positivity at Art Share LA and has served as a resident celebrity artist and Art Director for the Art Hearts Fashion Gallery for LA Fashion Week.
My Youth is open to artists who identify as Queer or among the spectrum of LGBTQIA identities. Accepted artworks will be exhibited at TAG Gallery from November 19 - December 14.
All artwork will be for sale.
Artists are responsible for artwork that requires special instructions, equipment, or assembly. Video artists must provide a monitor, headphones (as needed), and installation materials. Hanging works are limited to 60" height and 40" wide. Sculptures are limited to 48" height by 20" depth.
Entries are limited to a maximum of six submissions.
There is no cost to apply.
Accepted artists are responsible for the delivery of artwork and will receive instructions for shipping and hand delivery.
Shipping costs and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. A pre-paid return shipping label or air bill is mandatory. Reusable shipping containers only. No wood crates or styrofoam peanuts.
There is a 50% commission to TAG Gallery on sales during the exhibition and 30 days subsequent to the close of the exhibition. No work may be removed from gallery until the close of the exhibition.
All artwork must be original and available for sale. The artist must own the sole copyright to the art. Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality and appropriate to the work. No sawtooth hangers. Wiring must be in good condition and substantial enough for the artwork. Two dimensional works on paper must be framed.
Artwork will be handled with the utmost care. Work will be insured while on display and in possession of TAG Gallery. Neither TAG nor the curators will insure artwork during transit. TAG Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted artwork for publicity and documentary purposes. All copyrights for the artwork are retained by the artist.
Entry Procedure - Online Only
All entries must be submitted online in two parts on or before October 18, 2019.
Only images sent in .jpg format, no larger than 1,920 pixels on the longest side with a file resolution of 72ppi will be considered. Please do not exceed a maximum file size of 5MB per image. Files should be named according to the following conventions: artistname_artworktitle.jpg.
Results will be emailed to all artists by October 20, 2019.
