Cool Off At the Glacier

2012 (1 of 82)

The summer heat has come but I’m taking respite under the cool colors of Glacier. Painted after snow-machining to the foot of a glacier (over the frozen lake), this painting always reminds me of the cold and stark beauty of Alaska. It was the beginning of spring and snow still covered much of the landscape. Cool grays and slate blacks mingled with the white, marking mountains and trees. The glacier seemed to glow in it’s blueness, the turquoise color reminiscent of tropical beaches and balmy skies. It is my reverse reminder when the summer grows.

Glacier is acrylic on canvas, 36 by 48 inches.
